Spoiler-freeRobert is an isolated student who has been bullied and compared unfavorably with his successful older brother Jeff. The Wave gives him posture, friends, purpose, and proximity to a teacher he admires. He becomes its most devoted member and Ben’s bodyguard because the group answers needs the rest of the school ignored. The experiment’s end leaves him sobbing and alone until Ben offers to stay with him.
