Who they are in the book

Spoiler-free

The Mephi are a network rather than one character, but they function as a collective force in the story. They live beyond or move through the Green Wall, reject the claim that history has reached perfection, and plan to seize the Integral. The failed spacecraft action does not end their revolt; the wall remains breached at the close.
