Avis is the manuscript’s narrator, daughter of John Cunningham, and wife of Ernest Everhard. She begins sheltered by class privilege and becomes a revolutionary after investigating Jackson’s injury. She develops into an organizer, spy, and master of disguise. Her manuscript ends as the Second Revolt approaches. The future editor believes the Iron Heel captured and executed her, but no direct record survives.
