Philip is Mr. Wickson’s son. He accidentally discovers Avis and Ernest’s hidden refuge and is held prisoner. The revolutionaries educate rather than kill him, and he converts to their cause. He returns to oligarchic society as a valuable secret agent and later dies of pneumonia contracted while performing revolutionary work.
